SOM MD
Regenerative aesthetics uses your body’s own healing, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), biostimulators like Sculptra, and exosome-supported protocols, to improve skin quality, collagen, and recovery over time.
At SOM in Encinitas, most regenerative treatments are priced per session or as a short series, commonly $700–$1,800 per session by protocol. A dermatologist-trained SOM provider confirms candidacy and your plan in consultation.

All three support skin renewal through growth factors. They differ in source, concentration, and how gradually they work. Here is how to choose.
Regenerative treatments concentrate your body’s own healing signals, growth factors from PRP and PRF, collagen-stimulating biostimulators, and exosome-supported serums, and deliver them where your skin needs repair. Instead of adding a synthetic product, they prompt your own cells to rebuild.
At SOM, a dermatologist-trained SOM provider selects the protocol and pairing, often with microneedling or laser, based on your skin, hair, and goals. Because results rely on your biology, they appear gradually and look natural, building over weeks across a planned series.

Pricing depends on the protocol (PRP, PRF, exosome-supported, biostimulator), the area, and number of sessions. Use this as a planning guide, your actual plan is finalized in consultation.
• Protocol chosen (PRP, PRF, exosomes, Sculptra)
• Number of sessions in your series

At SOM in Encinitas, serving the San Diego area, regenerative treatment pricing depends on the protocol, treatment area, and number of sessions. Current planning estimates in this hub range from about $600–$1,800 per session; Sculptra is estimated per vial, and Renuva pricing is confirmed in consultation. Your exact plan and price are confirmed after candidacy review.
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are prepared from your own blood; PRF uses a fibrin matrix and is designed to release platelet-derived signals more gradually. Exosome products are different, lab-manufactured products, not PRP or PRF. The FDA states there are currently no FDA-approved exosome products, so ask what product is used, how it is applied, and whether FDA has reviewed it.
Usually not. Temporary swelling or a “glow” may appear early, but collagen remodeling, skin-quality changes, and hair response develop gradually over weeks to months. PRP, PRF, Sculptra, Renuva, and combination protocols do not share one timeline. Results vary by treatment and patient, and no outcome is guaranteed.
Good candidates are selected by goal, diagnosis, medical history, medications, and treatment area. PRP or PRF may be considered for patients seeking gradual skin-quality improvement or for selected types of thinning hair. Active infection, blood or platelet disorders, anticoagulant use, pregnancy or breastfeeding, cancer treatment, and other medical conditions require individual review and may make treatment unsuitable or require medical clearance.
Sometimes, but the combination and timing must be planned. PRP or PRF may be used with microneedling or selected laser procedures, yet evidence and protocols vary, and combining treatments can change downtime and risk. A SOM provider should confirm the device, product, sequence, and aftercare; not every laser or microneedling visit needs a regenerative add-on.
PRP is used for selected patients with androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss) and may improve hair density for some people, but research results and treatment protocols are mixed. It is not a cure and cannot restore follicles that are no longer viable. A hair-loss diagnosis should come first because shedding may have hormonal, nutritional, autoimmune, medication-related, or scarring causes.
Many PRP or PRF skin and hair plans begin with about three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, but there is no universal schedule. Sculptra, Renuva, and combination treatments follow different protocols, and maintenance depends on your goals and response. Your SOM provider confirms the number, spacing, and follow-up plan after consultation.
